How to Use This Website
Step 4: Reading Your Visualization
We have finally reached the visualization! You would now see something like this:
Every visualization page has four general elements:
-
The visualization itself. Most of these charts include an interactive legend that allows you to select specific data to highlight so that you can focus in on whatever information you are most interested in.
-
Information for reading this visualization. Because each type of visualization requires a different kind of analysis, each page lets you know how to understand the visualization you're looking at.
-
Questions for analysis. With each different kind of visualization, there are some questions that can help you start thinking about the kind of analysis you can do with this visualization. These questions are just here to show you the kind of analyses that these charts allow to get your own ideas flowing.
-
A comment box. Find something interesting? Share it! This allows you to interact with other site users. One of the most important aspects of both fan fiction and scholarship is the community, through beta reading and peer review. These comment boxes give you a way to interact not just with the data but with each other, revising and strengthening our knowledge through community.
This is really the fun part of the site. You can play around and find tons of different things just by clicking around. So have fun! See what you find!
